Pre-ECE

We use the Cook Islands Ministry of Education Curriculum and pair it with the NZ He whāriki mātauranga mō ngā mokopuna o Aotearoa Early childhood curriculum. We use these to help each child gain self-esteem, independence, physical development, and academic achievement—the ingredients of a thirst for lifelong learning.

Your Child’s Journey at Takitumu Punanga Reo Daycare

Pre-ECE

3-4 Year Olds

We use the principles to guide our learning activities, which include:

Sensory bins: Fill a plastic bin with items that will engage your child’s senses, such as rice, beans, or sand. Add in small toys or objects for them to explore and manipulate.

Playdough: Making and playing with playdough is a classic activity for young children. You can easily make your own playdough at home using flour, salt, and water.

Painting: Finger painting or using a brush to create artwork is a great way to let your child express their creativity. You can use washable paints or even make your own using food coloring and water.

Nature walks: Take your child on a walk around your neighborhood or a local park and encourage them to observe and collect items from nature, such as leaves, rocks, or flowers.5. Building with blocks: Blocks are a fantastic toy for developing fine motor skills and spatial awareness. You can use wooden blocks, foam blocks, or even recycled materials like cardboard boxes.
